Das Menschenrecht auf Nahrung verteidigen – in Ghana, Burkina Faso und Uganda

Viele Organisationen für Menschenrechte und Entwicklungs- zusammenarbeit sehen den Einsatz für das Menschenrecht auf Nahrung als einen zentralen Bestandteil ihres Engagements.

Mike Anane lebt in Ghana, ist Journalist und bei FIAN (Food First Information and Action Network – Int. Menschenrechts- organisation für das Recht sich zu ernähren) aktiv. Er engagiert sich vor allem im Bereich des Goldbergbaus in Ghana, der verheerende Auswirkungen auf die Ernährungssicherheit in der Region hat. ExpertInnen aus der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit der Caritas und von Bruder und Schwester in Not werden den Bericht mit Statements über ihre Erfahrungen und die Herausforderungen in Burkina Faso und Uganda ergänzen.

Ausstellungseröffnung

Die europäische Wanderausstellung „Face it – act now“ porträtiert Frauen und Männer aus vier Kontinenten, die sich im Rahmen der Organisation FIAN für das Menschenrecht auf Nahrung engagieren. Sie wird am 20. Oktober im Haus der Begegnung eröffnet und dauert bis zum 5. November.

Ujjaini Halim, (FIAN India)

India is commonly seen as a threshold country with astonishing achievements in new technologies and IT services. The dark side of this fast-paced development is hardly ever highlighted in Western media: Displacement in the name of development leads to violations of the right to food. Ms. Halim will talk about concrete cases documented by FIAN but also include other aspects, particularly highlighting the concluding observations of CESCR on India's periodical report and the follow-up activities in the country.

Ujjaini Halim is development researcher and one of the authors and editors of the parallel report “The Right to Adequate Food in India” which was submitted to the CESCR and published in April 2008.
